Welcome to the Juncanoo Blog, where we hope to foster a dialogue on the intersection between art and technology. As technology buffs, and budding art fans, we begin this journey by interviewing members of the art community in Boston, from artists and gallery directors in the South end, to museum curators in the university community. We will travel from from studios in the South End of Boston, to galleries in Chelsea, New York, and museums in Philadelphia, and on to Washington, DC and Baltimore.
Along the way, we will visit hundreds of sites where art is created, shared, and consumed, and as we learn more about the challenges facing the art community, we will try to develop tools that balance the highly democratic, anonymous, and oftentimes impersonal nature of the web, with the highly personal and tactile nature of art.
This blog will document our observations, and yours. We'd love to hear your thoughts; as artists, curators, and directors of museums and galleries, please tell us about your experiences connecting with the viewing public, promoting yourselves, and the technological challenges you face. As art lovers and patrons, we'd love to hear about your experience consuming and connecting with art, and about innovations which enhanced your experience. Please leave a comment or contact us at ayo (at) juncanoo.com!
Where possible, we will post summaries of the interviews we conduct; what we've learned, our conclusions and analysis, both quantitative and contextual, in real time. We will also post links to our interviewees - please support our arts community!
Thanks for reading,
The Juncanoo Team
